The etching depicts pattern detail of the stone tile courtyard of the Great Mosque of Aleppo. Founded in the 8th century it is one of the oldest mosques in Aleppo. It has suffered significant damage, including the destruction of a 10th century minaret, and as of 2016 is in a state of ruin.
